ill avoid the sesationalized story lead in favor of what the story itself has to say.

in a nutshell a herd of elephants in kenya act defensivly when encountering one neighboring tribe and not the other. They take cues from dress or speech and its based on experience with the two tribes. One is known to hurt the jumbos the other not.

So avoiding gang symbols or speechis just being natural.

Maybe we should tell the elephants .... profiling is BAD !
I suspect they would reply getting killed so asians can spend fab sums of money to snort your ground tusks in hopes of doing what Cialis will not is worse.
And they would not think twice about coming back at a threat tooth and nail. And I dont blame them.

Sounds like pretty good thinking on the part of the elephants to me. The guys in the red robes are dangerous, and the guys who don't wear red robes are not. The elephants act accordingly.

Of course humans do the same thing. Guys wearing baggie shorts and flashing gang signs are dangerous. People who wear normal clothing and don't show signs of gang membership generally aren't.

I'm really not sure that any of that has to do with racism, since both tribes are black, or with being "liberal" other than the stereotype of the liberal trying to treat everyone the same.

To me, that's not a liberal, but a naive human, more naive than elephants at least.
