An conservitive republican produced that movie. No ordinary Hollywood producer would ever touch the issue of slavery unless it supports the democrats.

The Democrats were all for slavery back when they believed in state's right. Lincoln was a republican. Really a Whig but in the same way democrats ran from democrat to liberal and then progressive, Lincoln was running away from Whig.

em-ploy-ees get paid for their effort, slaves did/do not.
em-ploy-ees can quit, slaves can not.

I know you're making a kind of joke but the fact is there are slaves today all over the world including this country. And if you think Kunta Kinte had it tough getting whipped now and again its nothing compared to what current ones are subjected to daily, hourly, minute by minute.

But things haven't changed that much for the Donkeys, LBJ found a whole new way to enslave blacks. It may not involve chains or forced labor (oddly it doesn't involve work at all) but its every bit as suffocating and vile.

no they didn't. they were captured and sold without their consent.

now my ancestor chose to become an indentured servant. he traded his freedom for a period of time in payment for passage to the new world.

    the slave ?
what makes you think it was white men after him ? the euros showed up on the boat with money to spend and the locals were happy to oblige with product to sell. slavery ws widely practiced on the Dark Continent back in the day. not so much Shaka Zulu who preferred to kill the people whose land he captured.

They agreed to be come slaves?
Sure, go ahead and capture me. Sell me to the Portuguese slave traders, that's OK with me.
I'd like my descendents to become Americans instead of Africans, so I'm perfectly willing to be a slave and work my butt off so as not to be lashed. I can scarcely wait!

Sure, that's how it was, sure.
