This is interesting.

Even with these appalling poll numbers, Harry Reid continues his deceptive practices by trying to push this crap thru.

Only 50% of voters say they prefer having Obama over George Bush

In the same poll 20% thinks Obama should be impeached. :)

The liberals don't get it. This country does not want the liberal agend crammed down their throat by one of the most liberal Presidents (maybe the most) in our history.

Obama is going down. Faster, and faster, and faster. He's doing nothing to help himself. Which is fine by me. He needs to go.

You can't cram far let liberal agenda on a mostly conservative - right of center nation of people.

You didn't post the "appalling" numbers.

According to your link only 38% of people favor the bill.

Certainly not a reason to pass a bill unilaterally, or against the stated critieria that the pres said he would accept, or that will raise costs for most by a lot, and that will reduce freedoms for all - significantly.

20% want him impeached? for what? I am sure those 20% would say impeach any Dem, the day they got elected.

20%... the insane asylum birther teabagger constituency!:D

Americans want Health Insurance Reform and it's going to happen. That just irks the sh!t out of the America must not do better crowd.

Americans Want Health Insurance Reform

A new Kaiser Family Foundation poll shows that, despite this summer’s antics by opponents of reform, a majority of Americans support health insurance reform and the numbers are rising…

The poll shows that 57% of Americans now believe that tackling health care reform is more important than ever (up from 53% in August); and 53% think that the country would be better off (up from 45% in August); 42% of Americans think their families would be better off if health reform passes (up from 36% in August).

Nearly 7 in 10 Americans describe themselves as ‘hopeful’ about health care reform.

The Numbers Tell the Story: Overwhelmingly, Americans are in favor of the key provisions of America’s Affordable Health Choices Act.

•80% support the federal government requiring health insurance companies to cover anyone who applies, even if they have a prior illness.
•68% of Americans support requiring all Americans to have health insurance, with financial help for those who can’t afford it.
•Nearly 60% favor the creation of a government-run public health insurance option similar to Medicare to compete with private insurance plans.
•67% support requiring employers to either offer health insurance or pay money into a government fund.

The majority of Americans – 57 percent – believe the current economic problems our country is facing make it more important than ever to pass health insurance reform now.

Could you find a more obscure poll to quote. Kaiser Family? Never seen that one quoted by any of the major news outlets.

(Liberal Quinnipiac) Poll: Only 38 percent support health care bill (All time low Alert)
Politico ^ | December 9, 2009 | Glenn Thrush

The second leg of Quinnipiac's big national poll dropped this morning -- and it shows a serious erosion of support for Congressional health reform efforts and the president's performance on the issue -- along with an all-time low 46 percent approval rating for the POTUS.

Most ominously for Dems: Nearly two-thirds of registered voters polled said extending coverage to 30 million-plus people will result in a decline in the quality of their own health care. That gives plenty of room to the GOP to personalize attacks on the plan, Obama and Congress.

The lowlights for Dems:

--O approval/disapproval: 46/44 percent.

--Voters disapprove 52 – 38 percent of the health care reform proposal under consideration in Congress, and they disapprove 56 – 38 percent of President Obama’s handling of health care, down from 53 – 41 percent in a November 19 survey.

--American voters say 63 – 30 percent that extending health insurance to all will raise their cost of health care, although they are split 47 – 46 percent on whether they are willing to pay more to make sure everyone is covered.

--Voters split 48 – 46 percent on whether they think covering everyone will decrease the quality of their own care, but by 71 – 21 percent they do not think universal coverage is worth lower quality of care.

“It’s a good thing for those pushing the health care overhaul in Congress that the American people don’t get a vote. At this time, supporters are down 14 percentage points,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

Who says Quinnipiac is a "liberal poll?" Politico doesn't, but I see that your original link is back to the infamous Free Republic. So about all your bringing us is some debatable numbers complete with commentary from one of your FReeper pals.

Can't you do any better than that?

Who is Free Republic. ? I just saw it on google.

Nice... might want to find that out first.

Health Insurance Reform FAQ

Q: The majority of Americans have health insurance, can afford it, and are happy with their
doctor. Why do we need to “fix” the system?

 Right now, the health care system is unsustainable for American families, American businesses,
and federal programs like Medicare.
 Premiums are skyrocketing and thousands of Americans are losing their health insurance every
day.
 Health insurance reform will lower costs for Americans and make health care an affordable
option, not a luxury purchase.

Q: Democrats claim we will be able keep our health care coverage if we like it but Republicans say
we won’t. Who’s right?

 A large number of Americans are happy with their doctor and with their coverage and no one
wants to - - or will - - take away coverage from millions of Americans who are happy with their
doctors.
 Health insurance reform protects existing coverage, and encourages employers to maintain it.
 Americans who are not satisfied with the current coverage will have new choices and competition
in the market will create stable health care options for all Americans.

Q: President Obama said health care reform can’t add to the deficit. But Republicans claim
reform will cost trillions. Who’s right?

 Improving health care in America requires investments – and those investments must and will be
fully paid back.
 Health insurance reform will reduce costs and will include targeted revenue increases focused on
those who gain most from the reforms.
 Through this carefully balanced and responsible approach, the President and Congress will find
ways to pay for health insurance reform.

Q: How would a public plan work?

 Americans in the small group and individual market will have the option of selecting health
coverage from a publically-run plan.
 The public plan would be offered through the health insurance exchange and would compete on a
level playing field with private insurance plans that in turn would reduce costs and improve
services.
 Premiums for a public option would be competitive because this plan would not have
administrative costs, such as marketing, advertising, executive salaries, and profits, that many
private plans have.

Q: Some members of Congress are talking about a co-op as an alternative to the public option.
How would that work
?

 A cooperative is a model that would compete with for-profit insurance companies. The goal of a
co-op is to put a check on private health insurers and bring health care costs down.
 A health care cooperative would be operated and controlled by its members.
 Washington and Wisconsin already have successful health care cooperatives.

I agree that 20% would want him impeached the day he got elected. He has not even been accused of any high crimes.

I disagree that that 20% is all tea partiers. They are a somewhat diverse group mostly, but not entirely on the right. Then again tea partiers are also a far more diverse group than many here are willing to admit and also mostly consisting of more on the right than on the left (not for lack of inviting those in the left to participate).
