IRS apologizes for targeting conservative groups

It's easy to see how this government views "social-welfare" groups, and other tax-exempt entities deserving 401 (c)(3) and (c) (4) status. Among the leftwing groups with 401 (c) (4) status is the "Center for Progressive Leadership" (CPL). This group not only "trains" people for progressive action, but acknowledges its pride in past trainees who've gone on to election to political office as Democrats. http://cplaction.org/.

Ohio Tea Party Groups Plan To Sue IRS

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The attorney for Ohio's largest tea party organization, the Ohio Liberty Council, says the organization will sue the Internal Revenue Service.

"Tea party groups in Ohio are going to sue the IRS for violating their First Amendment rights, freedom of association, and their Fifth Amendment rights when it comes to selective prosecution, or singling out," said Maurice Thompson of the 1851 Center for Constitutional Law.

Thompson says the grounds for the lawsuit will include three key elements.

First, tea party groups want compensated for financial loss caused by, in some cases, up to three years of harassment. Second, they want a court precedent so this can never happen again. Third, they want those in the IRS responsible to be punished.

"The IRS strung out certain groups for as long as three years," said Thompson. "Then, they would send a letter saying you have ten days to answer these 50 very intrusive questions or else you lose your application."

Tom Zawistowski, head of the Portage County tea party, said he applied for tax exempt status with the IRS in 2009.

"It really was a nightmare," said Zawistowski. "After years, they came back with requests for - give us a list of all your members, tell us every politician that ever spoke to your group and what they spoke about, give us a list of all the speakers you've ever had speak to your group, give us a copy of every page of your webpage in paper, (and) print out every page of your Facebook page."

local tea party has the goods to demonstrate that they are lying about what.who.knew.and when they knew it.

the shenanigans here.started in 2009. and yes it was.reported on the local news.

This scandal is starting to grow into other agencies. Someone in the hearing today called it pandora's box.

Rep. Brady, TX, said that one Tea Party woman who had applied in '10 was visited by the FBI's terrorism unit, contacted four other times by the FBI, had her personal and business taxes audited, had unscheduled audits by OSHA, FDA and the ATF.

I also heard today, that people inside the WH knew about what was going on, five months before last year's election.

This thing is going to get bigger. What's really maddening, if the voters had known about these issues, Benchazi and the IRS, we would probably have a different president today.

More interesting news: "It turns out the question that led Lois Lerner to disclose the IRS’s wrongdoing was planted by none other than Lerner herself." Sounds like she knew the you-know-what was going to hit the fan, and decided to appear as if she was on top of the situation.

There is going to be a lot of CYA going on no doubt. These people I'm sure have lawyers and have been told what to say and not say, as they could very possibly be prosecuted....especially if this goes to a special council.

This is getting "curiouser and curiouser"! The latest examples of the "rogue", "accidently-political " IRS abuses are interesting. Jewish groups were targeted. They were asked questions about their positions on the existence of Israel. A lawyer for one of the Jewish groups said he was told that because of the group's support of Israel, its case had to be submitted to a special unit in the DC office. The purpose? According to the groups lawyer, it was so the special unit could determine if the groups activities conflicted with the "Adminstrations public policies".

What does that say about the "Adminstrations public policies"? That they do not support the existence of Israel?

There is no proof that Obama is a muslim who supports jihad and the destruction of Israel is there?

That's the same reason why we got Benghazi, and why the AP's records were investigated. It's none of the Administration's damned business whether it conflicted with their policy or not. We happen to have the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press in this country.

Anyone who thinks that there isn't a dictatorship mentality in that White House better open up their eyes.

You Criticized Obama: Famed Christian Radio Host Alleges Outrageous IRS Intimidation

Dobson said that the agent told Family Talk that they sounded like a partisan, right-wing group and that, because the organization doesn’t represent all viewpoints, it cannot be considered educational.
The agent, according to Dobson, asked the organization if it would like to revise its application, supposedly to fix the purported issues that were presented. Family Talk declined and threatened to take the IRS to court if the delays continued. Nine days later, the application was apparently approved.

Surprise, surprise

Top IRS official will invoke Fifth Amendment

Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd.

Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee

She's getting in deeper and deeper - She may wind up in jail yet.

Lois Lerner Sued Christian Coalition In Largest FEC Action in History – Then Was Promoted to IRS Where She Targeted Conservatives

Under the direction of Lois Lerner, the Federal Election Commission sued the Christian Coalition in the 1990s. She harassed the Christian Coalition for three election cycles. She lost her case. Lerner even asked one conservative during the case if Pat Robertson prayed over him. (Sound familiar?)

These actions landed her at the IRS where she used the same tactics against conservatives and Christians – only on a much larger scale. 500 conservative and Christian groups were illegally targeted by the Obama IRS during her tenure. For twenty-seven months the Obama IRS refused to approve any Tea Party applications for tax-exempt status. At the same time the Obama IRS approved dozens of progressive applications.
