Russell George, Treasury Inspector General, ran an audit on the Homebuyers Tax Credit and found $500M in fraud. Here is just some of what he found.

  • 582 children under 18 years of age were given the tax credit
  • 3000 non-residents were given the tax credit
  • 53 IRS employees falsely claimed the tax credit
The IRS doesn't even require documentation that you bought a home . Not only is this a horrible job by the IRS, but these people should be prosecuted. The non-residents should have their green cards taken away, if they have them at all, and the IRS employees should go to jail.

And they wonder why we don't trust the idea of a government run program?

Since they caught the cheaters, in a very fast time, it would appear that the government operated quite effectively. Makes your latest attempt to bash the government seem quite absurd.

By the way, it wasn't the government that was cheating. It was our citizens, and non-citizens. Maybe if we were all a little more honest and ethical many of our problems would greatly diminish.

Your missing the point. They haven't caught all of the cheaters. They just identified the loopholes. There is more to come. The point is that the IRS, even after the Inspector General warned them about several of these issues, they still created an IRS code that was clearly to easy to breach. It was poorly thought out and poorly administered. That is my issue.

By the way, this has nothing to do with right or left. This has to do with bureaucracy. And, the cost of this is massive because much of this irretrievable and what is retrievable will cost almost as much as its worth to get back. This isn't partisan it's government.

Keep in mind. It's this same IRS that will be responsible for enforcing the new and improved Obamacare.

How's that gonna work out?

"How's that gonna work out?"

Oh just terrible. You should hurry up and complete your move to Iran to be closer to your like-minded buddies.

The Obama administration says it's normal that fraud occurs in these government programs!

Hmm, 4-year olds getting an 8K tax credit?
What, thousands of illegals getting the 8K tax credit?

Yes, this is an Obama administration out of touch with reality. It wastes tax payer revenue when we can least afford to and says its OK.
