Federal Election July 2nd

The Liberals are a conservative party. One of their policies was a cut in company tax even to the top earners. There is little chance of that going through with the Greens strong in the Senate. They also want to tax superannuation income for the rich. This might get through the senate if the hard line conservatives in the Liberal Party let it through. There is also a proposal to have a vote on same sex married

This could get through although some prefer it be done by politicians alone.
So the mandate is hard to determine
Interesting, the for laying it out

The Last seat in doubt has finish counting. The final call showed Labor leading by 8 votes. This will reduce Turnbull margin to 1 . There will be a recount.
They are still counting the Senate vote but there will be many independents and minor parties.

Is it always this drawn out ? Seems really long.

It is usually not see long. We do not use computer voting so this adds to the time,

You might be right. But I doubt if there is a conspiracy. Each vote is counted with representatives from each party.

The counting for the Senate has finish. The results have produced a crossbench of 11Independents and minor parties. This includes 4 representing One nation a far right party against migrants and Muslims. . A second minor party under Nick Xenophon has 3 seats while Jacqui Lambie, Derryn Hince , Bob Day and David Leyonheim have been elected as independents. There are also 6 Greens senators . Neither major parties has enough seats to pass legislation without making a deal with the above. It will be very difficult for this with such a range from the far right to the far left.
nd Minor parties

Federal Parliament sat for the first time this week. The Government pass some legislation through the House of Representatives where they have a one seat majority. But nothing has passed the senate yet where they are a minority. In the last day the opposition was able to win some motions when Government members left early. The government needs all members present even to pass motions in the House of Representatives.
