Barack Obama tapped Trump’s phones

I didn't say it was true, Let me ask you something.. Do you think Obama was listening to Merkel?

I don't. And that alleged phone tapping (IF IT WAS REAL) wan't done by PRESIDENT OBAMA, but by the NSA. It has has been investigating (by Germany!) and was NOT confirmed. . . also, it is clear that the relationship between Merkel and Obama didn't change and was EXCELLENT all along.

There was no wiretapping. There simply is no evidence that it was anything but another Trump tweet. This one was obviously made in order to detract attention from the investigation of Russia's meddling in the US election.
Politico reports on a story with manifold ramifications:

Members of the Donald Trump transition team, possibly including Trump himself, were under surveillance during the Obama administration following November’s election, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes told reporters Wednesday. Nunes said the surveillance appears to have been legal, incidental collection and that it does not appear to have been related to concerns over collusion with Russia. Nunes is going to the White House later Wednesday to brief the Trump administration on what he has learned, which he said came from “sources.”who thought that we should know it.” He said he was trying to get more information by Friday from the FBI, CIA and NSA.

Nunes described the surveillance as most likely being “incidental collection.” This can occur when a person inside the United States communicates with a foreign target of U.S. surveillance. In such cases, the identities of U.S. citizens are supposed to be kept secret — but can be “unmasked” by intelligence officials under certain circumstances.

Nunes said his new information appears to show that additional members of the Trump transition team — beyond former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn — were unmasked. This means they were identified in U.S. intelligence reports.

He said the information that he had seen and was disseminated across the intelligence community appeared to him to have "little or no apparent intelligence value."

Which does not mean that Obama wiretapped Trump Towers, either with or without the help of the British. The story is total BS.

The question is. . .does Nunes have any interest in downplaying the impact of the investigation and of the findings?

And it seems that he may be very interested in keeping that investigations as a mere "sideline" rather than the very real, very deep threat to Trump's position:

"The stunt by Devin Nunes was clumsy, risky, suspicious, desperate, and likely to backfire on him. So why is Nunes putting himself at such great risk to try to create a distraction on Trump’s behalf? Let’s talk about the financial business that Nunes conducts with Russia. In addition to being a Congressman, he’s part owner of Alpha Omega Winery LLC. According to the Los Angeles Times he has $50,000 of his own money tied up in the winery, which is remarkable considering that the same report lists his total net worth at just $51,002. In other words, the winery is all Nunes has.

According to Scott Dworkin of the respected Democratic Coalition Against Trump, the Nunes’ winery has a Russian distributor who is close to Vladimir Putin. This means Nunes has the vast majority of his small net worth tied up in a business venture which partially relies on sales in Russia. At the least, Nunes benefits greatly if Trump remains in office long enough to continue repealing Russian sanctions. Is this why Nunes is so desperate to protect Trump?

Very strange. . .especially since Nunes should know better than to disclosed ANY information about ANY investigation. He is putting himself in jeopardy, and for what? To try to calm suspicions on Trump's campaign (and maybe Trump) involvement with Russia?

Something is fishy!

All the news out tonight may help Trump, The number of people right now saying Trump's claims were accurate is astounding. His accusations were still way off mark. I hope he learns from this..He needs to stop stating what he feels personally as fact..

Nunes is going to the White House later Wednesday to brief the Trump administration on what he has learned,
Nunes is the chair of the House Intelligence Committee why is he not reporting his "concerns" to the Committee first and with whatever form of "evidence" he may think he has to back up his "concerns"? Is Government out of control in the US?

Surely, it’s now time for a blue-ribbon panel to be formed to take this outside of what remains of government? How can you have committee chairman by-passing their lines of communication and briefing interested parties on information which the committee cannot scrutinise or question - its just plain farcical.

The White House has previously enlisted Nunes, as well as a senior U.S. intelligence official, to knock down politically damaging reports about Trump and Russia. White House officials dismissed suggestions that Trump aides had coordinated with Nunes.

“We watched his press conference on the Hill at the same time everybody else did,” White House deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders said. “We didn’t have any information before that.”

The committee already knows

The committee already knows

Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said that Nunes’s action “casts quite a profound cloud over our ability to do the work,” and he called for the formation of an independent commission. “If the chairman is going to continue to go to the White House rather than his own committee, there’s no way we can conduct this investigation.”

Other Democrats suggested that Nunes may have crossed a legal line by publicly talking about secret intelligence work.

Has anyone verified the information he's talking about or is it just more leaked stuff. I think someone needs to go to Home Depot and buy some new pipes coz there's leaks everywhere...

Everyday something changes, I'm going to hold off judgement.. What I care about is the truth..

And some of this took place after Trump was elected but had not been sworn in..

“I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show that the president-elect and his team were at least monitored and disseminated out in intelligence,’’ he said, adding that he hoped to ascertain who in the government had sought details about the Trump team and had asked for their identities to be revealed, or “unmasked,” in the intelligence reports.

Nunes also said that he hoped to have more information by Friday and had asked the FBI, the CIA and the National Security Agency to “provide a full account of these surveillance activities.”

And the real punchline: there are "multiple FISA warrants outstanding against Trump" Nunes also told reporters:
"Details about U.S. persons involved in the incoming administration with little or no apparent foreign intelligence value were widely disseminated in intelligence community reports."
