It's weird how some people assume that the majority is right somehow, like truth can be voted on the way the books of the Bible were voted on in the Council of Nicea.

If you are willing to think that way, then Christians must be wrong since they are a minority in human history.

Davybus, have ever read a book about the history of your religion? What your religion used to teach and preach? What its ceremonies were? Its dogma? About who wrote the Bible, how it came to be in the form it now has?

Aaaaaa no.;)

That usually sinks it. Now truth is faith is a great thing. It helps a great number of people. Now that could be a placebo effect or Karma or whatever... for those really committed to their faith I'll even say what they would say... because there's some truth to it.

But if one takes no religious perspective whatsoever going in and just studies & researches the many sciences of things. Also does a dated flow chart of religious beliefs, were they started, how they spread, how they ended up and the many twists and turns and multiple directions their actual "Holy" documentation went in and how often one religion seems to have directly borrowed people and events from another earlier religion of a completely different type.

I believe most would be much less convinced about religion coming out of class than going in.

I just got a great new book: EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT GOD IS WRONG by Russ Kick. It's a compilation of essays on religion mostly dealing with the untold history, but also a few on philosophical aspects of religion and religious belief. It looks at many different religions and sects within religions. Most people have no idea where their religion came from or what it used to teach--especially Christians.

Great idea for a present...my mothers birthday will be coming up and that would suit her to a 'T'...thanks for the idea :)
