Are you confident that Premier Wen Jiabao could resolve the problems of social injustice by 2013?

Premier Wen Jiabao said Sunday social inequality and injustice remain a woe in Chinese society and he would exert utmost efforts to redress the problem.

He made the remarks at a press conference after the closing of the annual session of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.

"We are still facing many unfair problems in fields such as income distribution and the judicial sector. The problems demand more attention from us," Wen told hundreds of domestic and foreign journalists.

"I will exert my utmost efforts to redress the problem during the rest of my tenure and I believe future leaders will continue to pay more attention to it."

The team of President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao has deftly steered China through the Great Financial Crisis of 2007-2010 with booming 9% annual economic growth for China. This is their most important responsibility and their performance has exceeded the expectations of most Western analysts.

I don't think anybody can solve all of continental China's social injustice problems by 2013. However, Hu and Wen have shown that they'll do everything possible to ensure that most Chinese have jobs and enjoy a rising standard of living. Social problems take decades to solve. I believe that most people would agree that China's social problems have diminished greatly during the last 30 years of reforms and that life continues to improve.

I trust Premier Wen to do the best that he can in the next few years to rectify "social inequality and injustice."

Here are two examples of China's improving society under the Hu and Wen administration.

One might as well say "I will sift through every grain of sand and have them cataloged by location, color and composition... by 2013."

But you gotta like that he's concerned about the issue.

what reason does he have to do so ? communism/socialism require it.

What do you mean by quoting that saying?
And what do you want to tell?
Thanks.

Just because he is the premier of PRC!!!

Is it enough?
Shouldn't every politician contribute for his or her people?

Aren't you tired (and bored) of listening to these dictatorial leaders spew out the "made for the media" rhetoric with no intention of ever practicing what they preach? Wen has had plenty of time to make change if he wanted to. But we never see any tangible evidence of progress.

I think we have to admit that a free, capitalist market, coupled with a dictatorial government is a pretty efficient way of getting things done. This is especially true if you look at the character of the people. They are hard working plus have never known any personal liberties or freedoms. Before Communism, they were ruled by dynasties that held a tight grip on on all freedoms. Being a peon is a way of life for them.

I talked to one person of Chinese descent who lived in Singapore. She tells stories how here grandfather had 20 wives and 43 mistresses! It is a way of life for the Chinese people. Don't expect social injustice to be dealt with seriously - ever.
