1. WASHINGTON — With President Biden’s nearly $2 trillion stimulus bill moving toward passage, Senator Ron Johnson brought proceedings to a halt on Thursday by demanding that Senate clerks recite the 628-page plan word by word, delaying action to register his objections.

The maneuver by Mr. Johnson, Republican of Wisconsin, was unlikely to change any minds about the sweeping pandemic aid plan, which would deliver hundreds of billions of dollars for vaccine distribution, schools, jobless aid, direct payments to Americans and small business relief, and has broad bipartisan support among voters. Republicans signaled that they would be unified against it, and Democrats were ready to push it through on their own, using a special fast-track process to blow past the opposition….

Sometimes passing a small lectern back and forth across the dais, they sped through reciting the text to a largely empty chamber, speaking to a diligent carousel of stenographers, floor staff, the Democrat presiding in the chamber and Mr. Johnson, who had to remain on the floor — or find a like-minded Republican to spell him to prevent Democrats from stopping the process and moving on…..

2. Of all countries, US politicians seem to have the best and easiest jobs in the world with sky-high salaries. The "Me First" ex-president used to spend much of his time tweeting, jet-setting, golfing and watching cable TV. The US Senate floor staff seemed to have nothing better to do than to being forced by a racist senator to read a 628-page bill aloud for 10 hours to a largely empty chamber. It was just another of many laughing stocks of the "blood clot" American democracy. If the Senate proceedings were broadcast live on television, how many American viewers were willing to sit for 10 hours to "learn the details of the legislation"?

Now US politicians could only make a fool of their country's political opponents. Just imagine the ridiculous situation if the US could force the representatives of rival countries in the UN to read 628 pages aloud for 10 hours to a largely empty hall. And woe betide any nation that adopts America’s "blood clot" democracy. :)

Have you ever wondered why that rule is allowed in the senate?

Perhaps if you looked it up you wouldn’t think it’s a problem.

Yes, enjoy listening with sleepy eyes to the 10-hour long reading of the bill word for word if you were a congressman. :)

The reason this was necessary is because Demoncrats always put pork in EVERY bill. Reading the bill aloud makes the pork known.
