1. ......“The United States removed sanctions on Burma over the past decade based on progress toward democracy. The reversal of that progress will necessitate an immediate review of our sanction laws and authorities, followed by appropriate action,” the White House said in a statement, adding the US “will stand up for democracy wherever it is under attack.”

It went on to call the military’s declaration of a national state of emergency a “direct assault on the country’s transition to democracy and the rule of law” and said the international community should speak with “one voice” to condemn those actions.

“The United States is taking note of those who stand with the people of Burma in this difficult hour. We will work with our partners throughout the region and the world to support the restoration of democracy and the rule of law, as well as to hold accountable those responsible for overturning Burma’s democratic transition,” the statement said.....

2. Myanmar’s military coup is godsend for Biden as he could now pressure or demand ALL Republican Senators for 100% backing to impeach his "Me First" predecessor who has dumped American democracy into the drain by alleging election fraud even before the election. If ALL Republicans could not stand up with the Democrats for democracy at home by impeaching the "con artist" ex-president, how could the US “stand up for democracy wherever it is under attack"?

If ALL Republicans and Democrats could not speak with "one voice" to condemn the "con artist" ex-president's “direct assault on the country’s democracy and the rule of law”, how could they expect the international community to speak with “one voice” to condemn Myanmar’s military coup? Using an analogy, if you could not discipline your own son, how could you teach others to discipline their children?

Please bear in mind the US had a hairbreadth escape from a military coup in the wake of the recent election. Had the "Me First" ex-president enough guts to stage a military coup as advised by his pardoned crony, the statement from the White House on Myanmar’s military coup would be entirely different. It might be worded in this way: "My dear Myanmar disciple, welcome to the global family of heroic fighters against all fraudulent elections. Congratulations on a job well done!” :)
