There was some fuss by a certain user about illegal immigration here in the forum and after all, illegal means illegal. But how about legal immigration?

What do you think? And what do you know about the system that is in place to become a citizen of the USA?

Its what made this country great.

My niece married a Bahamian boy (and English as his parents were teaching there when he was born) several years back so I have somebidea how it works and esoecially post 911.

In short, it aint easy. And thats WITH marrying into it. Harder still if you just apply for a work visa.

They had to postpone the wedding y months because of it and thats with more than a few strings being pulled at high levels. Lets just say my brother has friends in high places.

But ultimately he was vetted and welcomed in and is doing very well.

I used to work with a gal who was
a legal immigrant from Venezuela. She and her mother came together. Her brother decided not to come. Things in Venezuela are so bad he just took off and now is an illegal immigrant in Colombia. He says he is better off illegal in Colombia than legal in Venezuela.
Remember that 25 years ago Venezuela may have been the most prosperous country in S America. Then 2 socialists in a row became dictators and now Venezuela is a third world country.
And the brother wishes he had come to the US legally when he had the chance.
