Chemical attack in Syria

Mr. Obama grappled with Syria for much of his tenure but resisted being directly drawn in, for fear of thrusting America into another Middle East quagmire without solving the problem. The most searing moment came in 2013, when Mr. Assad’s forces killed 1,400 civilians with chemical weapons, brazenly crossing what Mr. Obama had said would be his “red line.”

You should never have posted this part if you wanted a serious discussion, and not one of your cover up sessions. And both Trump, and the Republican controlled Congress said "Stay out of it". Yes Obama could have ignored the Constitution as many others have done. He could have ignored the Russian offer to get rid of Assads chemical weapons. In fact, he could have sent 50,000 American troops in to battle.

He didn't, and people like you have whined about it ever since. Now you want more war, so Trump dumps the "Mother of all bombs" on Afghanistan, NOT SYRIA.

And you think that is going to stop Islamic terrorism. :censored:

As commander in chief he dictates the circumstances and the direction of policy...... but that wasn't the point.

The continued prosecution of a pointless war in Afghanistan against a president bucking for world peace and being awarded a Nobel Peace prize... does that count?

No. Without the approval of the Congress, and he could not get the Congress to fund a withdrawl, he could do nothing. He does not control the purse. Additionally, Obama sought a new AUMF for the specific purpose of fighting ISIS to no avail. So, here you have a Republican controlled Congress that will not repeal the AUMF of 2001, and will not pass a new AUMF for the purpose of fighting ISIS.

And Obama is to do what?

My point exactly.. He couldn't make up his mind.. so for once he let congress do it..as far as sending Troops, NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED.. He kept pushing the narrative he only had twp choices, diplomacy or all out war..He knew better..

People like me who see things differently are going to complain anyway, JUST LIKE YOU. The mother of all Bombs, should have been displayed a long time ago..There were a whole lot of our enemies our generals wanted to introduce it to..

No it won't stop terrorism, IMO, that's not the only reason he did it..

It demonstrated that the old tunnel system is not immune to attack.

No, his mind was made up, all he needed was the cooperation of the Republicans, and that was not coming, not ever.

15 MOAB's have been produced since its conception in 2002. But anyway, my "complaints" are based on reality, not the alt-reality of the right.

"He" didn't do it. In fact, "He" did not even order it.

I know how many have been built..There is one reality.. things are changing..

Did the Syrian government launch this chemical weapon attack?

Maybe not:

MIT expert claims latest chemical weapons attack in Syria was staged

A leading weapons academic has claimed that the Khan Sheikhoun nerve agent attack in Syria was staged, raising questions about who was responsible.

"In fact, a main piece of evidence that is cited in the document point to an attack that was executed by individuals on the ground, not from an aircraft, on the morning of 4 April.

"This conclusion is based on an assumption made by the White House when it cited the source of the sarin release and the photographs of that source. My own assessment is that the source was very likely tampered with or staged, so no serious conclusion could be made from the photographs cited by the White House."
