Is China's foreign policy too hawkish?

China recently set up an air-defence identification zone over the East China Sea to cover the disputed islands and it's often described as China's "living space" or Lebenstraum. Non-Chinese commercial flights are now required to submit their flight plans to Chinese authorities in advance before entering the zone to avoid being mistaken as Japanese or American fighter jets and harassed by Chinese jets. But the new rules are ignored by Japanese and American military aircraft patrolling the area on a daily basis as well as major Japanese airlines.

China is trying to “unilaterally alter the status quo by coercive measures,” Fumio Kishida, Japan’s foreign minister, said in a news conference Friday.

Chin is the major power in this region. If they want to control some uninhabited islands there is nothing we can do

Our New Conservative Prime Minister did make a protest to the Chinese. His forien affairs Minister was subject to a dressing down by the Chinese. Will you protect us if China attacks us?
